Harris Institute admits students with independent minds, active imaginations, and an appreciation of an academic environment that encourages free speech and the open exchange of ideas. Harris Institute enforces its ‘Rules of Civility’ to protect students, faculty and staff from physical, sexual, racial or religious harassment; the incitement to commit violence and the shouting down of opposing views.

Rules of Civility

  1. Where evidence exists of any physical, sexual, racial or religious harassment, the student shall be expelled immediately or the faculty or staff member shall be dismissed immediately.
  2. Where evidence exists of any incitement to commit violence, the student shall be expelled immediately or the faculty or staff member shall be dismissed immediately.
  3. Where evidence exists that a student or faculty or staff member has shouted down an opposing view, the student or faculty or staff member shall be placed on probation. A second incident shall result in the expulsion of the student or the dismissal of the faculty or staff member.
